Algemene opmerkingen

Infectie is zelflimiterend in immuuncompetente patiënten. Niet behandelen als er geen (ernstige) klachten zijn.

Secundaire profylaxe opties (tot CD4+ >200*10E6/L).:

1e keuze; cotrimoxazol po 960 mg, 3x per week

2e keuze: ciprofloxacine po 500mg, 3x per week

2e keuze alternatief: pyrimethamine po 25 mg 1x/week (=1 tablet Fansidar®)

Ciprofloxacine bij kinderen alleen op strikte indicatie toepassen in verband met een relatief groter risico van artropathie.
