General comments
Behandelduur 14 dagen bij ongecompliceerde S. aureus bacteriemie. Bij complicaties en/of persisterend positieve bloedkweken na 72 uur behandeling: behandelduur 4-6 weken.
Het toevoegen van aminoglycosiden wordt NIET aanbevolen.
Cave endocarditis; echocardiografie is onder andere geïndiceerd bij patiënt met hartgeruis, pacemaker of kunstklep, indien er geen duidelijk focus is of indien bacteriemie >48-72u persisteert na start antibiotica.
