General comments
Ziektebeeld wordt veroorzaakt door migratie van larven van diverse spoelwormen van dieren, zoals Toxocara canis/cati.
Ziekte is zelflimiterend en klachten verdwijnen geleidelijk. Bij geringe klachten niet behandelen.
Albendazol en mebendazol liever niet tijdens de zwangerschap (en zeker niet tijdens 1e trimester).
Bij chorioretinitis overleg met oogheelkunde/consulent infectieziekten (indicatie voor vitrectomie, steroiden).
Bij oculaire toxocariasis is anti-inflammatoire therapie met corticosteroiden aanbevolen (prednison po 1dd 0,5mg/kg voor 2-4 weken).
