Oude naam: oxyuriasis (Oxyuris vermicularis)
Behandeling is beperkt effectief tegen het larvale stadium, daarom behandeling na 14 dagen herhalen.
Fecesonderzoek op wormeieren is niet zinvol, omdat eieren peri-anaal op de huid worden afgezet en in maar 5-15% van geinfecteerde personen aantoonbaar zijn in feces. Onderzoek middels peri-anaal afgenomen plakband preparaat is aanbevolen diagnostische methode.
